Help finding parts - please
« on: April 10, 2012, 03:13:16 pm »
Yep, time for grandpa to help out again and this time I have been asked to "fix" a piece of furniture.   Ok, this is NOT high end stuff, but it is what they want and I need some parts.

Is anyone aware of where these rotating catches might be purchased.  I need about two dozen.  I think they are made of zinc, or some pot metal, but they break very easily. They are inserted into a drilled hole in the wood and another piece of metal is inserted into them at a 90 degree angle, then the fastener is rotated via a screwdriver and cam locks the pieces of metal together.  The original furniture was purchased at Walmart in 2006.  The piece has yungsheng stamped into the face.

Any ideas would be beneficial.    Thanks, and may your day go well.   Will try to post photo in the gallery.

I bought a small cabinet at Target and had the same problem with breakage.  Got replacements at Home Depot.  They had two or three sizes in stock, and made of better material.

The official designation from my old days as an 'assembler' at W~M was "Cam Lock".

Used ion almost all K/D furniture.

Found them at Mac's Hardware, and the seem to be much better material.

Thanks for all the pointers.    Now I get to see if I can reassemble the item.
