Good Stool For Scrolling?
« on: February 29, 2012, 11:04:20 pm »
Does anyone have the H8363 shop stool from Grizzley? I cannot find any reviews and was interested in purchasing it for my scrolling. What do ya'll use? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I was wanting one with casters and a soft, but, thick seat! There are so many to select from, but, a lot of junk out there also.

I currently use a wooden bar stool too.  For Christmas, my wife bought me a medal shop stool from Canadian Tire with padded seat.  Quite nice and comfortable to sit on.

The only problem is that it is about an inch and half higher (at the lowest height) than my current stool and I find it uncomfortable to sit and scroll.

I am going to add casters and then fix the height on my EX-21 one day.

If your saw height can not be adjusted you could be in trouble.

Tony, I use a wooden stool also, but I was looking in Staples the other day at a drafting stool.  It can be set quite high if needed, was well padded and was on casters.  The $179 price tag turned me away, but if it weren't for that, I'd give it a try.

 found an almost new directors chair at a yard sale for $5- took it home and cut down the legs to my scroll saw stand( home made) and it works perfect--my back and butt don't hurt when I sit in it. --Richard aka thumbs ;D ;D ;D

I build a sturdy table for my scrollsaw to mount on.  I built it to make scrolling comfortable for my chair.  Well padded.  Computer chair is good with adjustable height control.  Danny  :+}

like Torsten a foldable bar stool.
did used a dinner chair for a few months because the saw was mounted on an old kitchen table, but with the new saw table I'm back to the bar stool.

I bought one of the gas strut shop stools from COSTCO. It comes with a swivel padded seat but after getting my scroll saw I found that it was about 2" too tall on at it's lowest height, I just cut the 4 legs by that much and now it's perfect and I can sit with my feet flat on the floor and my leg doesn't cramp up when using my foot pedal. I think the stool was $49.00.

I use a metal shop stool with a masonite seat and a back.  Legs are adjustable and it works great for me.  Bought it at Graingers years ago.

As you've probably concluded by now, it's really a matter of personal choice, what's comfortable for you.

I have both a wooden stool ($5 at a garage sale) and a metal one with a cloth padded seat and back (free from Dad).

Both work quite well.

I bought the H8363.  Hated it.  Returned it.  No leg support.  No back support.

It doesn't matter what you sit on as long as you are comfortable, some scrollers stand, me I prefer a high stool to sit on as it is easy for my old aching bones to get into and out of

Hi, I bought a Costco secretary chair, kept the arms off and it is adjustable to my needed height - cost a few bucks, but I would rather be comforable.
