My very first whirligig
« on: February 21, 2012, 09:20:57 am »
 ;D Yes I did it, I made a working whirligig. My very first one, but there will definitely be more to follow. I am hooked I think. It gave me such a buzz when I saw the bird's wings turn in the wind.

 ;) Newfie the books surely helped. I am invited to have a stand at the spring fair of my activity centre and thought they might do well, so am planning on making quite a couple before the 28th of April. Futhermore our church is having a Fancy Fair on the 24th March, must still asked if they will let me sell stuff.

David, you did a fantastic job on your first whirligig, I like the simple hub. It is much easier than the way I do mine as you will see when I send you a picture of my diagram.

 ;) Now that I take as a great compliment from a man who has made a couple of hundred of these wind toys.

David you did a Outstanding job.  The color combination catches the eye and the way you made the propeller is great.  Back a while ago I put a post on How to make a Whirligig.  Was wanting to make one that makes objects move.  After a few weeks of experimenting I just lost interest.  Not my cup of tea. LOL
Have made several like yours, but just didn't call them Whirligig.  Didn't call them anything.  Just a object with propellers on each she that the wind made spin.  Love watching them.  Anyway....  Danny  :+}

Nicely done project David.  Looks like it was fun to make.  Cardinals would sell here as it is the High School mascot for them.  Thanks for sharing it with us.
