4 Drawer Hex Box
« on: February 21, 2012, 09:06:31 am »
Made from a plywood called ApplePly that was gotten from my local Lowes.  This ply has a very good maple face and birch plys.  As you can see there are very few if any voids.  This is the US's answer to Baltic Birch Ply.

The hex box turned out great, I've never heard of ApplePly before, but looks like it's a good substitute for Baltic Birch.

Great design on the box, it really looks good, looks like I'm going to have to check out Lowes for ApplePly,  Thanks for the headsup.

I sealed the box with tung oil and let that dry.  Then top coated it with bullseye shellac.  Everything is the natural color of the wood no staining done.

Great job.  It really looks nice.  I saw Appleply at my local Lowes the other day and was wandering if anyone has tried it.  Now I know it makes a beautiful project.  Thanks for sharing?..Al
