Teak wood
« on: February 14, 2012, 08:05:38 pm »
I have posted the results of my experience with the Teakwood.  I learned a lot and also how to scrape instead of sanding,

I posted a picture of the finished project in the gallery section.  The wood is extremely brittle and burns very easily.  I found that if you use a cabinet wood scraper, then sand.  The scraper get most of the high down and then you can sand the wood easier with going thru so many sheets of san paper.  I also used 3 #9 blades because the wood is so thick and hard.  I did like the results but it does take a long time and you do have to go slow.

Nice work Jeff.  I'm sure the cross is not attached though as it is not centered.  :o

No the cross is not yet attached.  I took the picture with my phone camera.  The guy i made it for is going to attach both the cross to the back and then to the deck he made out of Teak.  I did not to make it to hard for him to handle, so I left it unattached.
