It's great it the saw passes the nickel test while just running, but I want to know how smooth it is when cutting. I'll have to test that in a little while, though I will be using my older saw and it's not as smooth running as the newer one.

Following on from an earlier post, I made a false plate in ?? plywood, fixed it to the saw having removed the steel one first, it made no difference to the noise or vibration of the saw. I then took off the inspection cover at the back and watched it flying round for a while and came to the conclusion that the counter balance on the eccentric cam is not set correctly as most of the vibration is coming from that area. There is an allan key holding the counter balance in place but I don?t want to disturb it for fear of violating the warranty so it looks as though it is back to Axminster to sort out. I tried the coin test and it kept falling over. The spanner, used to fit the temporary plate, worked its way off the bench even though the saw was clamped to the table. Iggy.
