The old Chief knows what he's talking about.

Back in the day, you would never hear anyone claiming to be part Indian, mixed marriages were frowned on so people kept mum on the subject.
Nowadays it doesn't carry the stigma it used to.
It's possible that I'm about 1/4 one of the Oregon tribes, but that part of my history is cloaked in secresy. A photo of my mother would bear it out.

All this ramble is due to so many claiming such heritage in these modern times that wouldn't have 50 or a 100 years ago. Times do change how we look at things

Well Gabby, Russ and Dan, at least you're not claiming Scottish ancestry, like a lot of your countrymen do LOL.

Oh trust me I would never do that (spitting that "S" word out of my mouth) On my Mothers side, God rest her sole, we be Indian heart and sole. But, I, on my Fathers side we be Irish standing proud and true. The "C" in my name stands for O'Clarity ;). Top of the morning to ya.  8)

I know, I know you are all wondering why Claridy. Well for some strange reason my great, great grandfather and his brothers/family came up with the name change. From O'Clarity to Claridy. Have no clue why but my brothers and I have been researching our ancestry.  8)

So my great, great grandfather was an old Indian fighter, cause my great, great grandmother was an old Indian. LMBO  ::)  ::)  ::)

Oh and my father was born in 1896, my mother in 1905. Thirteen children, I am the baby. Is not that ironic. I am the same age as my mother when she had me. OMG.   :o  Reality has just hit me.  :o

Only three of us as of today. William 78 and Kenny 62. We all live within 15 miles of each other and try to see each other once a month.  ;)

A lot of the old names have been changed over the years for many reasons.
Kennedy has many permutations, drop an N, change it to Canady, or change the Y to IE.
By changeing even one letter some of those running away from home or law, or just a family feud, would break their association with those they no longer wanted to be associated with. Then there is immigrations, where due to missunderstood pronounciation or a lazy clerk names could be changed from Schmidt, to Smith or Smitt.
Your history lesson for the day. LOL  ;D

That's ok Russ. My Grandfather was Yaqui, and was an outlaw who ran with Pancho Via. He spied a young lady, Kidnapped her and they had 18 children. That was my mothers parents. There was only one picture of him because he would not allow anybody to take his picture. He died before I was born of TB.
Now my wife's maiden name is Cornwell. You can probably guess where her family is from.

Think we could take some lessons from that.  Have found that my name hasn't had a change of spelling since the 1500's in Switzerland.  Guess that means I have to stay neutral.

Hi Russ, there's a lot of Irish here and you could not meet nicer folks. Be proud of it.
