Glue, glue, glue.  That's why it was invented.
Right?

Super glue works great and dries right away.  I tried duct tape, but it looks kinda cheap on most pieces.

I had cut a lovely Wombat that was to have a clock inserted once.  Thought I would just run the buffing wheel over it and did not really have the mind on the job and away it went.  When I eventually found it it was in 4 parts and quite a few splinters missing.  No amount of glue was going to fix this baby.  :'(

Dropping and breaking is not as disheartening as olding it too tight and breaking it......

dropping it is nothing alot of the time it can be fixed, but the stupidest thing i did was after cutting a portrait from mike(the old water mill) took me about 35 hours to cut. i sprayed it with mineral spirits to remove the pattern which was fine, but not thinking i took my torch to burn the fuzzies and poof it was gone so i also have a fire distinguisher in my shop just in case right next to my glue

Canadasgall - YOU WIN!  In reading all the mishaps in these pages, yours 'struck' me the most.  My heart goes out to you!  All that work! I hope after a while you were able to look back on it differently then the day it happened.  I think we all learned a little something from hearing your story! YIKES BIG TIME!  Thanks so much for sharing!

I would have laid down, cried, and after all the crying I would have drank myself into a slumber after that!!!!  Then I prolly would not go back out into the shop for a very very long time!!!

I think we need a PRIZE for that one! Or at least a minute of silent chuckling as we all picture ourselves in the same situation!

PLEASE, tell us you are able to chuckle about it now!!!

Oh yes, thank goodness for glue. I just used it this week to put a piece back where it belonged.

My thanks to all of you for making me feel better.  When I dropped that "masterpiece" and parts went flying, I thought I screwed up royally, that no one else would do such a dumb thing.  But now I see it's just another event in the life of a scrollsawer, and a learning experience at that.  BTW, I had to cut out a new "e", and after I glued it on I took another look... I had glued it on backward!  Thank God the glue hadn't set yet.
