Hi all
« on: November 28, 2011, 04:02:04 pm »
I'd just like to say hi and thank you all for the help I recieved already (probably need lots more before I'm finished  :). My name is Keith and I come from Newquay,  Cornwall in the U.K.  I'll swear on this site now and tell you I'm mainly a woodturner, but I enjoy using my scroll saw as well. I'm partially disabled and find it hard to stand for too long, so I used to do a bit of turning and when I needed to sit I stopped everything and sat on stool. then I thought all I needed to do was turn stool around and face scroll saw and I could make things on that while sitting and resting my leg.so now I'm a woodturner and a scrollsawer (if the latter is a proper word). I tried to upload  a picture of my latest piece of work, an anniversary heart, it says on my profile i managed to upload it, but I cant see it in the pictures on here, maybe it has to be vetted first or I did it wrong again lol. I have been on here looking through the patterns and the pictures of everyones work - I think you are all an extreemely talented group of scrollers, and I look forward to seeing more of your work and even chatting with you too.

Thank you all for the nice comments about my plaque. I would like to say I designed it too, but that honour goes to Steve, I downloaded it from him and just changed the number in it. Before this I haven't done much work with the scroll saw, I originally purchased it (a "Clarke" cheapie one) just to make 300 kitchen chalk memo boards in the shape of a fish and 200 in the shape of a teapot, after doing that I got quite fed up with repetative work so it was consigned to the corner to collect dust. I revived it a couple of weeks ago and started to use it again (but NO repetative work this time lol). I have just watched Steve's tutorial on designing a pattern in CorelDraw and have just made my first pattern for a clock, I'll post a picture when it's done for your comments (only nice ones please). I am thinking about upgrading the saw to one that works a little better and one you don't need an allen key to change the blade, and my 12 yr old grandaughter has asked me for my old saw and for me to teach her - It will be like the blind leading the blind lol but I'm sure that I'll manage especially with the back up I seem to be getting from here, I must admit I was dubious about becoming a member but now I'm certain I made the right decision and joined your family.
I would also like to thank Steve for his quick replies and advice he gave me by email. This is an excellent website with a brilliant family here too.
