Grand-daughters boxes
« on: November 07, 2011, 05:52:36 pm »
Ok folks don't be too hard on me.. I made the boxes I posted in the gallery for my grand-daughters for Christmas.. They are far from perfect but I think the girls will like them.. These are the first I have tried. I used Steve's butterfly from his desk set.. I only shrank it a bit.. The girls like purple and pink so they got those colors. I added mirrors for the inside and padded the bottom.. They are cut from 1/2 in. pine and their names and the butterflies are of 1/8 in. BB.. My unsteady hand for the painting, seems my meds make me shake a bit, but all in all I got them done.. So folks go look and give me pointers Please...  :) ... Sheila

I went and looked!  ;D You did good!  :) Little girls LOVE small boxes and as a grand dad of three little girls I know!  ;)  I've made several over the past six years.
Just keep practicing making boxes of all sizes and shapes, they are allot of fun to do and you can get very inventive with it.

Here is one (of three) that I made a about two years ago.

The box sides are cherry with a purple heart top and bottom and a cherry knob of the letters "L, O, V, E". The cherry sides are a full 2" tall and took a long time to scroll. Yes, I did get some burning but was able to sand most of it out.  ;D

A nice thing about small photos, you are the only one who knows where the flaws are if any.
They look very well crafted and strong enough to last for years.  ;D ;D ;D
Good job,
Gabby

They will love them because they will know that they were made with love.  You did an excellent job for your first time, well done.

Thank you all.. Yes Gabby, I can see the flaws and I know how hard it was for me to put them up here to show.. I showed them so everyone knows there are things we aren't good at but we still try them... Thanks to all... Sheila
