Hello from Scotland !
« on: November 01, 2011, 10:14:17 am »
Hi Everybody , My name is Peter and i am from Largs in "Bonnie Scotland"  ;).
I started scrolling about a year ago after seeing some amazing stuff at a craft show, and as i would like to think of myself as a creative person i decided to give it a go, so i bought myself a cheap scroll saw and started making sawdust!  ;D,  although not to the highest standard i was quite impressed with the results and what i did not know i made up as i went along  :).
Shortly after i bought a bigger but still cheap scrollsaw  that still had pin ended blades , but people started noticing what i was doing and were offering words of encouragement :D, so as i always seek to improve i bought myself a hegner scrollsaw off of ebay but i have to say i was a little dissapointed with it as it kept on breaking blades for some reason SO i really pushed the boat out and bought myself a new "Excaliber ex 21" only to be dissapointed again when the top connecting rod snapped just after a week  >:(. you would think i would have given up by now but i am persistant and with the replacement now in place  and having redesigned my work space i am ready to make more sawdust.
I joined this forum after watching some of steve's great videos and hope to share some ideas and photo's with you's once i know how to resize my photo's as they seem to be to big for the forum, Peter

Hi Peter,
Welcome from across the Channel (Netherlands). I love Scotland, don't recall ever being in Largs, but it would be a thought for my next visit. Glad you found us. Enjoy yourself and looking forward to seeing some of your creations.

Welcome Peter, I'm Mike from California sorry to hear about your problem with your Hegner as I have owned the Hegner  18v for over 20 years and have never had a problem with it. Try checking the blade tension as if it is not set properly it could cause the blade to break. You can also contact the company "Advanced Machinery"
