A Good Samaritan strikes again!
« on: October 23, 2011, 02:09:39 am »
I have to report I must be doing something right.
As you might recall I was looking for a cheap laptop as a backup for my old desk top unit.
Well my longest time friend (Since I was 13 or so) passed through here and heard about my problem, he recommended me to a computer repair man friend of his, nothing was cheap enough mostly re furb's at what you could get a new cheap one on line. Over 200 bucks, way out of my reach!
Friday after returning home from senior center on my front step was a box, I wondered who it was for, knowing I hadn't ordered anything for my wife or me larger than a coffee mug.
Brought it in and the box was from HP Compaq. There was a card from my friend.
He'd decided to help out his "Old Friend". You could have knocked me over with a feather, I had no idea he was going to do that. Wow I have some of the BEST FRIENDS in the world!
A couple of them are here in this forum.
Damn I'm getting a lump in my throat.
All I can say is thank you and God Bless you all!

Hi Gabby, must be a nice warm feeling having friends like that. Good to know there are still some good folks left in the world. Enjoy your new "pooter" RR from a cold wet Scotland.

RR and Marg, thank you. Some of these Good Friends I've never met face to face. Which makes them especially exceptional friends only here online at Steve Good's forum.
Can't ask for nicer folks, well I guess you could ask, but I doubt if you can top them!
My Family of Friends has expanded beyond imagination since I joined the fine folks.
Hardly a day goes by that I don't at least read what's going on. When this old PC crashed was probably the only time I've been away for more than a day.
Thanks again to Steve and all the great folks here. I love the whole bunch of you, even if I don't always agree with you.  ;D

Gabby, I know just what you are feeling.  Last year my wife wanted to go to Office Max.  So I took her.  To make a long story short, she bought me a new HP 17 inch lap top for know reeason what so ever.  I really did not know what to say but, thank you and I love you.

Gabby what a wonderful thing to happen to you. You must be a great guy, or you would not have such great friends. I am so glad for you. Enjoy it.

Good for you Gabby!  Now Russ may have to create another category above Hero.

Good for you Gabby!  Now Russ may have to create another category above Hero.

He'd have to call it "Super Friends", but most of them don't want to take the credit.
Thanks David, I'm not entirely sure about being such a great guy, but I sure do have some great friends.

RR  I agree!
Russ ditto!

Ol' Timer, you sure MUST have done somebody a good turn or three...

That's usually why these good things come home to roost.

I have often been asked by family and friends, "Why do you do those things? You don't know those people or OWE them anything."

My reply, "Because I CAN!"

'nuff said, partner!
