Gift Box
« on: October 18, 2011, 10:03:18 am »
My Cousin just got married and My parents are giving them an antique sugar and creamer set but they wanted me to make a box for them to live in so I made this.

Made from Black Walnut,Wavy Maple and Aromatic Cedar.  The box is 5 x 7 x 11.

Very nice!  You always set the bar high DW.  I aspire to turn out projects as nice as yours.

Hi DW, my name is Roy and I am from Scotland and have been a joiner/cabinet maker for 50 years until I retired. I am new to this site and it is a long time since I have seen as nice a box as yours. Well done. Are your corner joints dovetailed?. Once again a beautiful box.
Roy.

Roy no the joints on the box are straight cuts using only the scroll saw.  I thank you for your complements. I have found that these type of joints while simple in design can be difficult with a scroll saw.

Hi DW I am quite sure the corner joints will require a great deal of accuracy since you are using the scroll, not to mention concentration. Your joints are perfect as is the rest of your box. I wish my apprentices could have made make boxes as nice as that. Beautiful job.
Roy.
