Cleaning an LCD monitor...

Anybody had any experiences they would like to share?

Mine is due and I am looking for better methods.

I buy lens cleaner packets from Wal-Mart. Clean my glasses then wipe down the screen.  Just goes to show what a tight wad I am.

I use a lens cleaning solution, Pro Lens Cleaner. I don't remember where I bought it, probably LensCrafters. It stated as being save for glass and plastic lenses. It's in a spray bottle. I spray some on a soft cloth (not directly on the screen) wipe the screen, then follow up with a dry cloth. The solution is anti-fog and anti-static.

As I recall a 4 oz bottle cost $4-5. The bottle I bought about 5 yrs ago is still 1/3 full.

I'm with Judy, the lens cleaner tissues are great for cleaning the display.

You need to be careful with this, as the LCD has a front window of plastic which can be harmed by aggressive  cleaners. Can't go wrong with lens cleaner products thou.

Well firstly I must ask ... what is this 'cleaning' thing you are referring too?

Getting the accumulation of dust and pollen off the face of the screen.
Have heard of using distilled water and vinegar in a microfibre cloth...

I read somewhere that using fabric softener sheets help to take the static that attracts the dust and such. I've never tried it the Boss doesn't use them.
Anyone else tried them?

I do the lens wipes and Yes Gabby I have and it does help (I live in a dust Bowl here in Texas) During this drought the Dust is everywhere thick and heavy so I head about and tried it I would say the Dryer sheets cut the dust stickyness to about 50% so it does do good not great but good. GB go with the lens wipes from Wal-mart they work great and you can use them to clean your glasses before the screen. or you can spend the money on electronic wipes but the lens wipes do the same thing.

I use the lens cleaning kit I bought at Costco in their optometry dept. about 5 years ago.  Came with a spray bottle of solution and a cloth for wiping the lens.  They still sell the same kit, and Costco lets you bring the bottle back and fill it for free, and I occasionally wash the cloth out with a mild detergent.  Works great for me, and doesn't scratch my glasses or the monitor.

I tried the drier sheet/fabric shoftener on my face shield. It kept the dust off, BUT, it also left some kind of residue on the shield which wasn't optically clear and it was looking through fog. Cleaning off the residue was harder than wiping off the dust.

I use Swiffer Dusters first and then wipe with a lens cleaning solution.

I use a slightly damp lint free cloth,avoid alcohol based products as they can remove the thin film on the face of some monitors.

in most cases, I just wipe my glasses on my shirt and every thing is clearer---Thumbs

 Hey Ghost.....Thought maybe I would have seen you at Acme for the dealer show  but how would I have known.
There was a guy there that was turning out some fabulous stuff on a lath. Got my EX-21.
