Son broke arm
« on: September 17, 2011, 10:45:15 pm »
Well we had an interesting week. Our son, Joshua, who plays football, a junior, broke his arm during practice on Wed. He has a temp. splint and wrap on until the 27th. His right arm and he is right-handed.
He got to play in the first 3 games, but now missed this weeks game and is out for the season. He is pretty bummed about not being able to play or even practice. He really can't do any of it until the real cast is on.
He and another guy got the 12th man award last year from the team. He is a guy who keeps others at their best and a team spirit leader.
So we are doing our best to keep his spirits up. It is quite a bummer!
He still has to go to practices and watch. I am telling him it will help him mentally for next year to watch/learn/remember. But he is a type of person to learn by doing too and this may put him behind for next year.
That is one more straw on this camels back! I have been bending but am not broken yet! Struggling onward!

To both of you....

Never, Ever give up!

All Joshua had were some horns and David only had a sling!

Hang in there Harold. The tunnel is just around the corner. Once you see tunnel, the light is next. Sorry to hear about your son. He is young and will heal fast.

Ha Howard! I could tell you what's theme in biology
But Judy's idea counts too - a broken arm is pretty cool. Even cooler when broken during sports!

So far all is going well with Josh. Some teachers are cutting him some slack and allowing him to type/use computer for doing paper work that would normally have to be written out. Like his pre-calculus teacher.
I emailed his video production teacher last weekend and he said let Josh stay in class, I would miss him being there, and he thought Josh could handle equipment and not fall behind in class. That was my real concern.
So school is okay. He is still bummed about football. But he is doing some video of practices for the video class as a project.
Games tonight and I will be running the end zone camera. Going for their first win, I think they will get it.
Thanks for all your well wishes!

I am glad to hear things are working out for your son. I totally understand. Two years ago my son broke his hand and he was the starting quarterback. Hoping for the best and a fast recovery.  :)

Both teams won big tonight! Josh was running the football in and out to the referees at change of possessions. I'm in the end zone on the camera watching him run in and out saying, just don't fall on that arm!  ::)  Cuz, he wasn't wearing his sling either! And he doesn't get the cast on until Tuesday. BOYS!! :o

Wheaton Academy Warriors beat Chicago Christian Knights 48 - 14
The JV team won too, something like 33 - 16
We are in a private school league that used to be all Catholic schools.
So a lot of tough competition. We went 5 - 4 the last two years.
This year so far we are 1 - 4. It will be a challenging year.

I told them they would win cuz it was my birthday!
I wanted a cheer something like;
Win one for the end zone cameraman cuz it's his birthday!
Guess it was a bit wordy?  ::)
