Hello from Ireland.

Hello from Ireland.
What comes before newbie?  That would be me.  I'm still trying to get up the courage to start scrolling.  (I also need some courage to tell my wife I want to spend a lot of money buying stuff, which I'm not sure I will be able to master).
Been watching Steve on Youtube for some time now.  Flabbergasted.  Only discovered his webpage today and thinking what have I been missing.
Would there be any scrollers in Ireland, whom I might be able to visit, to see "live" work being done?
Well, even if I never start doing it myself, I will always tremendously enjoy watching you guys.

Hey Martin, Welcome to the forum! I'm Dan from Southern California. Surely your wife has a hobby that she spends money on? The trick is to show her pictures of things she might like and say " See honey, I can do this if I had the right tools!".

Hello from Wisconsin, it also helps if you make something for her that she can brag about to her friends, mine was a scrollsaw box, she loved it.  (best thing is I enjoyed making it)  stick around the longer you are here the more you learn.

Trust me, your wife wil like it if you have this hobby.
And what i like about it, is that you make it as expensive as you want.
I keep it pretty cheap, (i'm just a simple factory worker), bit still it's lots of fun.

It doesn't need to much to get started. The rest comes as you improve.
 
Just make some for your wife from time to time and she'll be OK.
I recently figured out that my wife also likes it when I give things to our friends and guests, which are always delighted from that.

Hey Martin, Welcome to the forum.  It does not have to cost a lot to get started.  I was a single mom with 2 kids in college and needed more income.  I started with a cheap saw and the lumber I had laying around from other projects.  Never regretted it.  I'm Julie from Texas.

Martin, you will have to do what I did: bought my wife something pretty, then my scrollsaw, and kept my fingers crossed.  She was only mad untill I made her something, now she loves it. --Hank
