Second Intarsia Mice
« on: August 22, 2011, 11:42:40 am »
Well here is my second attempt at Intarsia. I chose something I felt comfortable with and with a few more pieces then my first piece. I didn?t want to get anything to complicated yet. I am having so much fun with this style cutting. This was made with cherry and ash for the mice and a piece of pine for the cheese. I just put a light coat of yellow spray paint on the pine to give it a cheese look. I?ll be moving on to something with a few more pieces next. Thanks for looking and enjoy.

Thank you Al. You are a big inspiration to me in doing this kind of work. I see the stuff you do and just love your work. I should have shaped the mice a little more then what I did. This is still a learning process for me but I love doing it.

Wow only your second Intarsia I would not have thought it, it terrific.  I would like to know how you shape your pieces because that is the only thing stopping me from giving it a try, I'm frightened that I'll either take too much off or shape it in  the wrong place,

Same here .. although I did buy a new rotary drill yesterday (like the dremel) and it came with a flexible drive shaft and some mini sanding drums, will test it on a segmentation piece to see how it goes (once I complete the order for the 60 keyrings I have to make). This will have to do until I get a proper workshop and can fit a bench grinder with an inflatable drum sander.
