I got some FD spiral blades last year and broke 3 doing the smallest cut.  How do you get the ends straight because I think that was the problem, I could not sit them in the clamps properly and they kept breaking.

The clamps on my saw don't work well with the regular spiral blades (break constantly), so I had to resort to the "Flat End" spirals from FD.  Worked much better with my clamps, although they don't come in as small a size as the regular spirals.  Maybe give them a shot if you haven't already!
