What a great idea, looks like fun.  I can think of all kinds of ideas for different patterns.

It will be interesting to see how that old 'vinyl' cuts!

I'm assuming SLOW saw speed and packing tape...but the tape would pull up the existing labels!
BUT..if you are just cutting the 'grooved' part you wouldn't have to cover the 'label'.

How about cutting the outside design as a 'banjo' for BlueGrass or Dixieland fans?

The possibilities are endless.....

And the best: those Techno phono disc they produce today are perfect for this - can't be played afterwards and no harm to the music!

Hey GB, If it were me, I would sandwich the vinyl between two layers of Baltic birch or some cheap plywood. That way you don't have to worry about scratching the groves or catching the blade on the vinyl and breaking it.
Do you have a pattern?

Nothing solid just yet...I just saw it in an email a friend sent me about things people make when they think outside the box...
Playing with the idea of the St. Louis Arch, musical notes, a trumpet and the word "BLUES".

Just letting my very fertile imagination run wild....

You know it's kind of funny, They are issuing albums again. My son got a record player for Christmas last year, and already has a small record collection of modern music!

I cut some old 78's a year or two ago and stuffed the blades, vinyl may be different.
The teeth  just disappeared.
