Twisted tree's

In Sweden I saw this twisted tree's, don't know if all trees twist like this but I find it very nice to see.

Marcel - I'm not seeing any document or image with your posts.  Not sure if it's the filter on our internet here at work.  Did you post images?

you're to quick Tom, the pics were to big....
well not to big, the max size for attached files is 384 K and 4x 128K is more than 384.... 8)
so I needed a bit time to figure it out.

Marcel what kind of trees are those? They look neat.. Bet you could get some pretty slabs from them... Sheila in Tx

Interesting - is the wood inside also twisted or is it just the outer bark?

Torsten the wood is twisted too.
A few years back I saw a large Cedar 75 to 100 feet tall in someone's yard over by Prineville, Oregon it was still live and growing and was a perfect cone shape and the trunk was spiraled from top to bottom. I never forgot that as it is so unusual!

I have never seen a twisted tree until now. How do the get twisted, or is it that species of tree that twists?   :)

i think it's pine.
the same tree's as the 500 year old one I'm standing next to.
They are called Gammeltallarna in swedish.

don't know why the twist. there are a lot of twisted tree's there. it's in Fulufjallet, a national park in Sweden.
they don't have their outer bark anymore and as Gabby said, they are twisted inside to.
there was one, (forgot picture) that was broken due storm and you could see the twist in the break line.
I think they are a couple of hounded years old.
it's in the same area as oldest living tree of the world.
unfortunately I couldn't visit the oldest tree.......

It crossed my mind to take one home  8) but the car was full......
