Craft fair
« on: July 27, 2011, 02:50:26 am »
I did a small winter craft fair a few week ago, it was indoors so that was good, I was not expecting any thing much as far as sales goes more of a donation and hoped I would break even on the day, it happened that sales were great and i sold all my jewelery boxs and puzzles plus other stuff, $400 in 4 hours I was happy with that

Nice. I always wonder if the boxes are worth the effort one has put in them - do they sell at the price you need to have for them?

Torsten, I normally have 4 box's on the make at once, I make the carcass's fist then decide on the lids, this way I can keep the price to a minimum which is $35 t0 $55, this type of box would retail from $80 to $150 so they are cheap

My box's are in general 10" x 6" by 3" deep only the lids have a scrolled pattern on the lid, I think the scrolled box's are to shallow

Jimbo,
I noticed you have contrasting wood corners in some of your boxes how are they made? I think they look very nice that way.
Looks like you are a turner as well.

Gabby those corners are cut on the saw, I all so do some of my box's with a finger joint on the corners they are done on a router table, and they look really nice if the corners are rounded
Yes I used to spend most of my days on the lathe but now the knowledge of turning has been a huge asset to my wood craft in general
