Hey Gene, It is a very small picture and is hard to see much detail. The cutting looks good. From here it looks like you used 1/4" Baltic birch plywood. I think it adds too much depth to it. It might look better if it was 1/8".
Can you post a larger picture so we can see it better?

FWIW...all my portraits are done in 1/8" BB or Oak p'wood. I also think a darker backing might have been better to make for more contrast.

Just my opinion and we all know about those!

I cut all of my projects out of 1/4" because I think the deeper dimension looks better. I guess thats why God made us all different, it would get pretty boring if we all did  everything the same. I too think it would look better with a brown or black backer.

I would put a darker backer on the piece. Something a little less baby blue will contrast better with the light color of the cutting.  Another way to get the contrast would be to stain the plywood.

How about a backer made of diagonally striped red white and blue?

CAn someone tell me how to make the picture larger?  And thanks for all the advise.  I did cut it in 1/4 inch BB.
