Project#4 DONE
« on: July 19, 2011, 06:38:06 pm »
I've added my finished gift to the gallery, but thought I'd add the brag and photo here too. It's a shell trivet from Grampa I think. Correction it's from Arpop . I've written all the particulars in the gallery. I'm open to comments pro or con, I have thick skin and a thick skull!
Beat you to it Marion.  ;D
I hope you enjoy,
Gabby
PS much more fun than cutting letters!!!!!!

Great Job Gabby, That's a very nice design for the Trivet.  Good choice of wood.

Looks Good. I would apply a top coat to it Such as lacquer, polly or acrylic. I like to use a satin or semi gloss. It will protect the wood and give it a finished look.

Thanks Dan but I'm concerned with laquer burning or scorching from a hot right from the oven or stove container. Refreshing only requires a touch up with more oil.

Nice job, ole timer!

I have only done a couple trivets and just used straight mineral oil.

I never really wanted to grow up....All I wanted was to be able to reach the cookie jar...and play with my DW 788

Well GB I've been reading about using lemon oil so much here on the forum, I decided to try it out.
The smell is nicer than mineral oil! ;D
