Semper Fi
« on: July 17, 2011, 05:31:10 pm »
Today my son Cory will take a very big step along the path of life. He leaves today to become a Marine in the USMC. I am so very proud of my son, words cannot describe the way I feel inside.

It is going to be rough for me at first, we have never been apart and are very close. My fishing buddy, I coached him in baseball and football, Boy Scouts, you name it we have done it. It has been fun and a pleasure to watch him grow up to be a man.

And now he goes to serve, protect us and our great nation.

I Love you Son.  :)  :)  :)

God bless you, your son and your family Russ!  That has got to be hard emotionally and I know when the time comes for my children to leave the nest my heart strings will be stretched way to far!

I will pray that God gives you peace in this time.

There are two things we can give our children ... the first is roots .. the second is wings.  You must have planted some very good roots for him to decide that his future is to serve and protect this country.  Thank you, your family and him, for the sacrifice you are all making.   Marion

Congratulations! I hope he'll do well there.
I have always enjoyed the military stuff (had not much of that -> Air Force...).

Do we have some "SEMPER FI" Pattern available?

Thank you and Cory for his service.  It takes a special young man to serve.  Blessings and prayers go with him.

I remember when my son left to start his service in the Marine's.  I remember the pride and pain of separation.

From a retired Chief, I know you must be proud of him. If he has to go in harms way, may he have courage to overcome obsticles and come home safely. Godspeed.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement. The hardest part is no communication other than letters for thirteen weeks. I am so very proud of Cory and the path he has chosen. Just a little rough for dad right now. Can't wait for Graduation Day.  :)
