Aluminum key chain
« on: July 08, 2011, 03:50:14 am »
aluminum 5/64 thick
I found it hard to saw, a lot of flapping, the blade grabs the material real easy.
used some #0 blades special for iron to cut in the A and M.
only on the A I wasted 5 blades  >:(
as soon as I went back a little and turned it just a fraction the blade snapped.....
but Mikes FD-UR #2 and #3 blades cut like a hot knife trough butter!

Cool Marcel! Did you sandwich the aluminum between two pieces of wood?

Because metals are tough to cut on the scroll saw, it's best to sandwich the metal between two pieces of wood or plywood. That way the metal your are cutting is less likely to "catch" on the blade.

Cutting metal can be interesting.. Nickle is kinda sticky when cut.  All metals have their particular ways to be cut. n Thanks for showing us.

no I didn't, just aluminum. and it catches the blade, that's true.
slow feeding and even slower turning curves.
will try sandwich it the next time. thanks for the tip.

I have used the sandwiching technique a lot and it works really well.
