Number of cuts
« on: April 28, 2011, 07:52:04 pm »
At my last posting of "My dream" a few of you made comments about how it had too many cuts for you to try it.  A pattern with 300 cuts is no harder than one with 25 cuts.  In fact, it may even be easier.  Usually with that many cuts it is bigger.  For example "My dream" was !!X14.  So don't let the number of cuts be a determent.  All it going to take you is a little more time, not any more skill.  This one was over 700 cuts, the bottom half with spiral blades and the top with flats.  SO GO GET"em.  You can do it....

That's what I always tell everyone  -- "One cut at a time!"

However, you did a spectacular job on this!  It is truly a beautiful picture and you did a wonderful job with it!  I have not used spiral blades (yet) and one day I may give them a try.  Especially after seeing what you do with them!

Great post - Sheila  :)

That turned out gorgeous!! One day i'll tackle something that large.

What was your reason for using spirals for the bottome and flats for the top?

Thanks for sharing.

that is so cool! I love it.
for me it isn't the number of cuts, it is the idea of spending weeks or months on a single project. I would be worried I would get half way done and get sick of it and never get it done. I hope I can get up the courage, these you have posted are so awesome.

The reason for the different blades is the bottom is reflection on water and it is never as sharp as what is being reflected.
For the other comments, never put a time limit for getting something done.  If I tried to sell (which I did this twice at a benefit) I would never get paid for what time I put in it.  If you cut on it for a while, then go do something else, then cut more on this, go away for a while, and suddenly one day it is finished, and the OMG's start, starting with you and you can't wait to do it again..GO GET EM.please

Beautiful work!  I had that pattern a long time ago but I have completely lost it and have no clue where to get it anymore.
