just got inkscape paintnet and gimp would love 2 do some portraits but whitch 1 to use prob been asked b4 but any help would be helpfull regs clive

Hey Clive, I too just started making my own portraits and patterns with both Inkscape and Gimp. Gimp works best for portrait patterns and Inkscape for all other patterns. I would highly recommend watching all of the videos at this link, he covers how to make patterns in both programs and they are very good tutorials.
