First Scroll Saw Project
« on: February 25, 2011, 04:37:19 pm »
My mother passed away two weeks ago, 97 years young; She had a very good life, up until the last few years.

Among her things she had this little Scottie Dog, corner-shelf, I made as a Cub Scout project back in 1943-44; It was still on the wall in a spare bedroom. It's the only thing I recall making, besides sawdust, using my Father?s 1938 Craftsman Scroll saw. She still had the instructions for the saw among her papers, I guess that?s where I get my saving junk from, lol.

That is so sweet that she kept your shelf for all those years, and I'd like to thank you for sharing this with us.

Hey Al, So sorry about your mother. Sounds like she had a long and good life. It's nice to see things that our parents hold on to that are dear to them!

Sorry for your loss.  At 97 I bet she left a lot of memories behind.

Hi Al....:+}  Your story is so Heart Warming and I also am very sorry for your loss, but I feel your Mother left you a feeling that she will Always be there with you in your Heart.  You are a Great Person and I seem to think its because of your Mother.  God Bless and keep being yourself.  Danny :+}
P.S. I also made my Mom (shes 83 now) a knick nack shelf way back yonder and I know it still means the world to her.  Later....

My condolences to you and all your family.

Just think of all the other gifts you gave Mom and the one that seems to have meant the most to her!

Wonderful Story!

Thanks everyone for your kind words; She always said she was going to live to be 100, and almost made it.

You're right Ed, I made my parents a beautiful Cherry Coffee Table in HS wood shop and I have no idea what happened to it, yet she kept the Scottie with a shelf that's split where I drove a brad into it.

Memories are precious.

I am also sorry for your loss.  I don't imagine that it's at all easier even though she lived a very long life.

It is, however, extremely cool that she hung on to something so seemingly trivial for so very long!  It obviously meant more to her than you realized!

I am so very sorry for your loss.  What a treasure to find after all these years.  At least it was a treasure to her.
