Thanks and I am sure I will have some questions just for now I am reading and hopefully learning. I sanded and waxed the table now I just need to start cutting. I think I will draw some lines and see how it goes.

Hi All,
I am cutting 3/4 pine and I trying out some blades, what is the best blade number and also what is the best speed to try?

Hey Blue, As a scroll saw instructor, I recommend a #5 skip tooth blade at about a medium speed. Don't start with a reverse tooth blade till you have had some practice with the skip tooth blade. The reverse tooth blade will cause the wood to slap the table if your not careful.

dgman is right, Blue.  On 3/4 wood, start with a #5.  The skip tooth blade will also clear the sawdust out of your cut faster so you can see where you are going.  The purpose of the reverse tooth blade is to keep the bottom cut smooth by cutting on the up stroke.  Since you are just practicing, it doesn't matter whether you bottom is fuzzy or not.
