Good evening
« on: February 04, 2011, 02:09:26 am »
New to the forums, but not quite new to the craft. I have been scrolling for about a year now. Mostly it was fantasy stuff that I will post in a few days, but a few other things here and there such as earrings (since I am short a lathe) and a few small designs I have been holding back on.

My oldest son is interested in scrolling now and has done a few pieces with the leftover scraps. they have turned out rather well for the shape. The decoration would sell the image completely.

I am a former Marine. I live in North Central Florida with my wife and 5 children (ages 9(boy), 6 and 6 (twins(girl and boy)), 3(boy) and 2 months(girl) I am back in college full time until I am hired. At that point I will continue my education part time while I am off work.

anyways, I have done a little photography and a little hand carving on tikis and a few small chainsaw tikis as well. the cs tikis all went to friends for Christmas though before I took pics. good times though.

Well that's the brief me. Glad to be here

Hello AC,

I'm new to the forum here also, but let me be the first to welcome you. I am not new to Steve's blog but haven't really been on the forum too much. I just moved from the central Florida area (Palm Bay/Melbourne) up to Alaska. I thought it might be tough adjusting to the cold winter here, but we have adjusted just fine and the people are just so laid back here. We love it. Anyway, welcome and I look forward to talking with you in the future.

Welcome!

Have fun. There are a lot of new ideas around here.
Also some really good patterns for your son - check out Marcels doorstoppers - the patterns can be used in multiple projects.

regards
Torsten from Germany

Welcome AC from Naples, south of you.  (Don't you love the Florida weather?  :D )

Well the scroll saw is much safer than that chain saw!  I've seen chain saw artists set up in a vacant corner at a major intersection in the county and they do some good work.  Wouldn't catch me doing it!

I am studying Criminal Justice

The small hand carved tikis aren't that great, but I have taken a few photos that I am really proud of.
Not to brag, but here is the only stuff I have posted anywhere ever:
