Gloat
« on: January 16, 2011, 11:38:27 pm »
Not really too scroll saw oriented (although some of it will go that way), but I have to gloat.  I am so so happy!  I have been looking for a new planer and wanted something bigger and more industrial than a portable unit.  I found a Powermatic 15" with a helical cutterhead on craigslist in almost new shape and picked it up for $600.  When I got there I was also able to make an unbelievable deal on an incredible amount of hardwood.  Mostly rough cut 4/ cherry, oak, curly & birdseye maple, and poplar.  there was a little 8/4 also.  It was so cheap I am embarrassed to reveal how much.  Suffice to say I won't be needing any wood for a long time.  I don't intend this as bragging, just great luck and excitement!

*wow*
That's a lot of wood - yepp!

Is the wood already dry? Or do you have to store it?

I would love to say you got a good deal on the wood, but I don't know what you paid!Sounds like a good deal on the planer though!

The wood is nice & dry and was stored in a rack, so it was properly cared for.  Let's just say I didn't even pay $1 per board foot!

Enjoy your new toy and make some nice things out of that wood. You'll have to post all things you make from that load, so at least we can all have some pleasure out of your find. Sometimes we need this kind of luck.

I am with David...enjoy your new toy.  As for storage, glad you have space, if not, I would surely help.  LOL

Nice, real nice!

I think you should send a photo to your truck's maker as you have it quite loaded down!

That is definably  bragging and I'm as jealous as hell.
Great buy on the machine I paid $450 for a small Ryobi it does the job but something of you size would be better
