Looking for some help.
« on: January 09, 2011, 05:53:59 pm »
I have attempted to make my own pattern for my wife. After working on it for hours i concede. I just cant get it good enough to cut. It was supposed to be a suprise for her but as i sat here getting frustrated she came to help, neither of us can get it.  If somebody can help me modify this i would appreciate it.

Graybeard, I disagree for 2 reasons. 1) when we(wife and I) are referred to by either family or friends, it is always Stephen & Michelle. 2) 98% of the time a couple is referred to it almost always the mans name first. Don't misunderstand #2 for Chauvanism. And why are you yelling at me in caps?    :'( that's her job & that's another thing I love about her.

I was taught and learned at a very young age...

"LADIES FIRST"

And I will always stick with what 'momma' taught me!

Yep same here I always put the Ladies name first Unless otherwise told not to do it that way.
With this being a gift for the wife her name should always go first.

Why is it then when addressing to a couple it is always "Mr. and Mrs."  not "Mrs. and Mr.
Sorry folks I was brought up mans name first since he was made first I suppose. :D
I'm from North Dakota

I never new any other way. It's not a matter of ladies first, in life my wife always comes first. Since the first day we met til current day i still open the door for my wife. My wife knows not to touch a door. Thats my job to treat her like a lady.
Guess it's to late to change now. I got it cut and gonna hopefully finish it tommorow.

Ok I have talk to a few people about this and they have all said the same thing "It depends on which family side you are speaking to" his family says his name first (same with friends) her side says her name first (same with her friends) but the wife says his name should be first it is just how it is and always has been it's Mr. and Mrs. not Mrs. and Mr. so there you have it the man's name goes first unless otherwise stated.

Found this at "Yahoo Answers"....

True etiquette states that while a couple is dating, a woman's name goes first in all correspondence (Christine and Brian, please come to the beach party). But after married, the man's name goes first (Dave and Karen, please come over for a tea party). So, I would recommend placing his name first, followed by hers.
