1st Portrait Attempt
« on: December 29, 2010, 06:39:18 pm »
This is my first attempt at a portrait.  I made the pattern from a photo following techniques described in one of Steve's tutorial videos.  I'm pretty happy with the results.  Please let me know what you think.   Thanks

Thanks, it was an important project, so I took my time trying to make sure it was an accurate likeness.  The wife was thrilled with it, and although I made it while expecting to have to put the subject of the portrait down shortly after I cut it, he is doing well on the steroids the vet has given him even though they can't find a cause for his ailment.  I'm just glad he's still with us!

A very good cut and pattern, especially for a 1st attempt on a pattern like that.  Excellent, thanks for showing us.

Thanks all!  I am definitely hooked!  Now trying to find money in the budget for a DeWalt! :-\  Here is the original photo I made the pattern from.  I used Photoshop Elements (poorman's Photoshop!) to create it.  It's cut in 1/4" birch ply, backed with stained 1/4" birch ply and fitted into a store bought 8 1/2 X 11 frame.

Very nice job on designing and cutting the pattern.  I'm still in the learning stage.

Thanks!  I'm really liking this scrolling stuff.
And thanks for the kind words about the dog, we really didn't think he would make it past October.  Vet says he can stay on his med for years if need be.  Hoping so, he's only nine.  Thanks again!
