Merry Christmas
« on: November 24, 2010, 10:57:30 pm »
This is the pattern from Leldon Maxcy that Steve posted recently.
I used 1/2" maple for "Merry" and 1/4" something for "Christmas"
I am not really sure what the second wood is, but it contrasts nicely with the maple.

MrsN...That looks great!

I am using the maple and walnut when I get back from Denver next week!
I sure like the light color of the maple.

Will post it when I get finished.

Hey MrsN, That came out great! The darker wood looks like it might be Mahogany. Wonderful job!

I finished mine a couple days ago and used Maple and Bloodwood.  Looked nice with the White and Red contrast.  Yours turned out great!  Thanks for the post!

Great work. Where do you get your Maple? Do you plane it yourself or do you buy it 1/2"?

I bought it 1/2". Sometimes I plane down thicker pieces but the planer makes such a mess that I keep it in the shed shop and forget it is out there. It is an old hand-me-down from my dad when he moved to Mexico.

The next tool I get needs to be a planer. It is messy but it allows you to get the thickness you want to work with.
