Dewalt saw purchase - Yes or No?
« on: November 10, 2010, 04:52:06 pm »
I made a call a few minutes ago to someone who has a Dewalt scroll saw for sale.  He said it's only been used 3 times and he wants 250$ for it.  I have not seen it and it is about 75 miles from my house.  I don't know if it is with the stand and light or not.  ( I wouldn't need them as I already have a circular tube light, workbench and foot switch.

Advice:  Should I purchase or not?

BTW, if I get it, it should be in the next few hours (hopefully).

I would think it is a good deal Karl if it has only been used that much. It is my favorite saw and I would jump on it if I were you and you were looking for a saw.  I don't think you will regret it!

Thanks Sheila.  The problem is I don't "need" a scroll saw.  The Craftsman I have works okay, but I thought I could take the next step up and enjoy scrolling more with a better saw.  Another problem is if I get it, I need to make and sell some things to "pay" for the saw.  Decisions, decisions.

If it is in truly great shape as purported jump on it.  Sell the craftsman or keep it for doing demos at shows.  You won't regret it if it is like new.

This year we got 2 Dewalts at school (I'm a shop teacher) They really are wonderful machines. As soon as my Hitachi dies, or I find a good deal, I'm upgrading.

I hope you're in you car as I type this, Karl!  While it would be terrible to drive all that way to learn the seller has misrepresented the saw but that's a great deal if it is as described.

Well a short while ago the fellow called back and it was too late to look at it tonight.  :(  So I'll take a look tomorrow evening.  :)  Needless to say I'm checking my finances and some extra work this weekend to swing this.

Stay tuned.
