Congratulations, Dave!  I think a retirement party in NOLA sounds like a terrific idea.   Too bad you don't get to retire in time for Mardi Gras!   ;D

As for change, I bet you were nervous about that when you started the job too and look how well you have done.  I'm sure it will take some figuring out but I have no doubt you'll do just fine and will soon be enjoying the heck out of your new life.

And if you have doubts, just remember us working stiffs out there and think of how jealous we are of you!

Retirement is great most of the time.  I think that each time I try it.  One time after retiring, they opened a Home Depot and I thought that looks like fun so I wound up working there for 5 yrs.  Retired again and moved to MO last year and have puttered around the house and shop and now just got certified to substitute teach so guess I am unretired again.

congrats, that's great, all the time of the world!
enjoy the last part.
I know some people who are retired to and most of them work harder.
most as a volunteer or sometimes on a payed job.
you don't seem the guy that will sit in a chair all day, i bet you'll be busy.
at first plan a big holiday and enjoy

    Marcel, thats what my wife & I are planning to do. I got my paper work in the mail last Saturday. I going to fill it out, soon. Have already told the Chief. Better start looking for a replacement. Dave 8)

I retired last Jan. now ever day is a Saturday or Sunday with lots to do.
ENJOY Come done to Lexington some time.
