Bill...this table has a history. It was made by a farmer/woodworker/U.S. Forest Ranger about 75 years ago. He passed it to his son who used it in his farm kitchen until the late 70's. When he passed on his son, a prosperous dentist in Springfield, used it in his basement game room until he got remarried and his new wife redecorated every room in his house. So he gave it to his son who has since given it to me. I have been told there has been a lot of money that has changed hands on that table top because the whole family were and still are avid poker players!
It wasn't really beat up but just needed a good helping of TLC! That's what I am striving to give it so it will last for many more years.
My oldest son was by the other day visiting from Wisconsin and has already stated that it will go nicely in his 130 year old farmhouse which he and his wife have completely restored.
When I am finished working on it I am going to get more details about the history, write it up and then seal it in an envelope attached to the bottom of the table.
