Combining Oil and Paint

I want to paint a small area of one of my spiral bowls. If I oil it first, will the paint adhere? If I oil it after - will it discolor the paint?

I recently oiled with Danish Watco Oil several of the name ornaments for family members. Then they were painted with acrylics later and had no problems whatsoever.

back in my painting days. everything we did was stained with watco then painted. You might want to wait a few days for the watco to dry very well. I too used acrylics.
