Unusual to see colored slides from this period.  I have a video tape from the same period that was made from 8 mm home movies by a cousin.  It has no sound but I treasure it as most of the people on the tape are deceased.  Me excluded of course.

I wasn't born until 1943 and don't rember much before '48 or '49 but, I have seen alot of old family photos from this era. The only ones that I have ever seen were black and white not color. In fact, if you had ask me before, I would have said that color photos didn't come until around 1950 or so.
Does anyone else know what a "Kodak Brownie" is?

The "Brownie" was an original box type camera as best I recall and it used either 120 or 620 size film with 8 exposures on a roll. I think it got the nickname because it was covered in brown leatherette. I don't remember if there was any means of 'flash' sync or not.

Ah the Brownie .. remember it well.
No flash, 127 roll film on the model I had.

Great pictures.  I wasn't born until 1960 but my first camera was a brownie from a garage sale.  Daddy taught me how to use it.

very interesting photos.i still have my mothers box brownie camera in its case,found a 127 film for it a few years ago and it still works ok

Here are some pictures for you folks from Wisconsin - http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/whi/advancedSearch.asp  - I love looking at old photographs, as I like history.  Thank you for sharing the link, very interesting.  A fellow railfan and modeler, sent me that site awhile back, for the train pictures.  I plan a scratch building a couple of the buildings that are in those pictures for my future model railroad.
