New Here, My First 2 Projects
« on: October 03, 2010, 07:17:53 pm »
Hey all, im new to the forum and to scrolling. Coming from Buffalo, Ny you need a hobby during the horrible winter! Heres my first two projects I've completed. The ring bowl is Red Oak & Mahogany, was a project from last months Creative Woodworks Mag. Second is a heart shaped key holder made from pine. This was cut on a band saw (before I got my scroll saw) and lots of hand sanding! The text/hearts are hand engraved from a dremel tool and painted w/ black arcylic paint. Hope you enjoy!

Great Job,  I did that same bowl the other day.  Already sold it.  There is supposed to be another in that series in the next magazine.  Excellent job on all three projects.  Keep up the good work.

Great job on all of those.  Stock up on wood...I live in Minnesota and will also be spending time in the basement....when I'm not outside shoveling.

Thanks for the post and good job!!

Cool stuff!  Is the engraving difficult?

Cool stuff!  Is the engraving difficult?

I drew the text in pencil and then used the engraver bit for a dremel, very tedious and takes a while. I then used a cone shaped sander bit to make the text a bit more deep and wide. Takes a while but turned out really nice.
