No bragging, just sharing
« on: September 17, 2010, 11:58:00 am »
last Sunday I heard that a friend/acquaintance had un-treatable lung cancer.
it was discovered a couple of weeks earlier.
I decide to make something this week to encourage and support him and his family.
I made a for a "pictureframe with a candle" design and it's made out of 1/4 oak.

The dutch phrase "sterke" means strength and his name is on top the picture frame.
I had a poem in my mind that to place in the frame, later on his wife can change it for his picture.

Today I was finished and I planed to bring it over this weekend.
Then this morning my daughter came home from school with a note that he had past away. (His daughter goes to the same school)

I gave it to his wife now, she can use all the strength she can get.

....... what a terrible, awful disease!!

So, notthing to brag, but I would share the story with you.

What a beautiful thought and a sobering story, Marcellarius.  Life is so fragile, isn't it? It was a kind and thoughtful thing for you to do for their family, and I am sure they will treasure it not only for these reasons, but also for its craftsmanship and beauty.  Thank you so much for sharing with us.

I used an other poem than I originally intend to.
I now realize tha you dont read dutch so a translation might be handy.

this short poem says:

in our thoughts you were
in our thoughts you are
in our thoughts you always will be

Marcel, I am sorry for your friend and his family.  The piece was beautiful.  I'm sure the family will treasure the piece because of it's intent.  The poem was equally beautiful.

What a thoughtful gesture.  So much more meaningful than flowers.
