My River City Rascals did it!
« on: September 14, 2010, 11:54:47 pm »
After losing the first two games the Rascals came back with three strong wins in three days to take the West Division Championship Series of the Frontier League!

They now move on to the League Championships against the Traverse City Beach Bums.

It is an Independent League team that would be about the "A" level of a major league affiliate.

Players must be 18 at the start of the season and may not start a season after their 27th birthday.

Very few of these kids ever make it to the big dance but it does happen. We have three 'graduates' now playing in the majors or hi-minors the best of which is a reliever for the Anaheim Angels.

It is FUN to watch guys play ball for basically the sheer love of playing. They only make about $850 a month during the season so local families "sponsor" them giving shelter, meals, laundry, etc.
Players here are from as far away as Hawaii with several from California.

Playing ball is what they want to do...NOT become multi-billionaires!

My dau. and SIL have attended a couple games go rascals! Hey, I'm going to be down there in a couple weeks and have picked up some wood at the place on Mid-Rivers Mall Dr., is that a pretty good place? I'll have some time while down there so thought I'd do some shopping
I love the smell of saw dust in the morning.

y...guy...

I'll PM you my info and maybe we can enjoy a cup o' Joe!

RE: St. Charles Hardwoods...I have not been in there except to buy a tool stand for my miter saw and drill press. Frankly the place 'intimidates' me! (I know ...hard to believe!) I can get almost everything I need either online or at the big box stores. If I was into bigger projects I might be more inclined to visit more often but it is out of the way for me and not really a 'necessary' trip. If I am in the vicinity I stop in and browse but overall I just buy online.
