Hello from upstate Ny
« on: September 14, 2010, 01:58:36 am »
Hello from upstate ny.  My name is Gene my friends call me Geno.  I have been scrolling for about 7 years now and have ball dowing it.  I retired from the Navy in 1999 and was looking for a hobby.  During a visit to my Grandfathers he was in his garage making lamps.  He has been working with wood all of his life.  I loved the lamps he was making so I asked him if he would teach me.  The next day I bought a table saw and an sander and the rest is history.  woodworking went from a corner in my basement to consuming the whole basememt.  My Wife of 30 years does alot of my finish work so this is a joint venture.
We started doing Holiday craft shows about 5 years ago and that has been our main focal point.  We love doing holiday ornaments.
Ok I have to get ready fro work now.   Just wanted to stop by and say hi and thank you.

Welcome Geno: Your an old hand at making saw dust, you just want to know how to make the very fine stuff.

Your getting into wooden snow and making neat stuff at the same time. Well Steves site has plenty of stuff to

be made. All of it's easy as long as you just take it one step at a time. I enjoy taking his things one step further,

thats when I get into the "Well, that didn't work" thing. That turns into some beautiful firewood and I do it

Steves way. The more you explore, the more you learn. You've gotten past the neiborhood thing of, "You show up

here with one more wooden thing and I'm gonna shoot ya". Thats a big step - but a fast one. Enjoy making saw

dust, "it's a wonder life".

How do I get my wife to do the finish work?  Well I told her all the wifes do it.  Please dont tell her any different.  lol

Actually its kind of a family tradition.  My Grandmother did most of the finish work for my Grandfather.  When I was out in the shop with Gramps she was watching my Grandmother work on the finishng of the projects.

Hello from North Dakota.  I am alone and hate the finish work.  I may go looking for a new husband if I can find one that has lotsf money, leaves the TV remote alone, loves to cook, clean and finish all my scroll saw projects.
What are the odds??? Of couse it wouldn't hurt if he looked like Sam Elliott either.  ::)

Welcome from Pennsylvania!   ;D

I'd like a new one too Judy... he can have the remote... just cook and clean - with a smile on his face!  I think Sam Elliott only looks good with the mustache.  I'll still take Bruce.   ;D
