Here's a portable prayer bench my dad and I are making..Well he built it and I have to finish it and put some foampadding and cloth on the kneeling part. It works great and can be stored easily..This one is made from 3/4" Walnut..

That's very pretty.  I have to ask though... who would use it?

My wife and I used one thirty three years ago at our wedding.

People who pray every morning and evening like Me would use it..

When I pray, I'm usually sitting... or laying down.  I had no idea people used prayer benches at home.

@Ron - Was the wedding at a church?

Janet,

There are many different cultural practices around the world and from Church to Church. Our wedding was in a church and we kneeled as the pastor led a prayer of blessing for us. It must have worked...

Some people choose to kneel at a bench when praying at home. I am all for whatever it takes to help people talk with God on a daily basis.

I've never heard of anyone having a kneeling bench at home.  Learn something new every day! :)

I don't like kneeling... I have tender shins.    :-\

My prayer bench is my bed. I kneel beside my bed before I start my day and at night before I lay my head down to sleep.  I just have a little talk with Jesus. I tell about all my troubles. He always hears me when I pray. It is a wonderful beginning and ending to my day.  8)

Janet, My Ex-mother-in-law used one several times a day.  She did her rosary there and sometimes just went to pray.

Like Janet I have not heard of anybody using a prayerbench at home, but like Russ I use my bed. But as somebody said it's not where you do it it's what brings you closer to God and how you feel comfortable speaking to Him. Janet I have tried it laying down, but then tend to fall  asleep.
Nice job lucky, sorry got side tracked. It looks super and hope your dad gets good use out of it.

I hope I didn't offend you Janet.. I was just saying that people who can't kneel on the ground can use this because it's easier to get up..Everyone has there own way of praying for sure..All I know is that it works no matter which way you pray as long as you Pray..
