This sounds like fun. There is still plenty of time for exchanging names. I am sure someone who is good at that kind of stuff will step up. I am going to start thinking of what I can make.

I don't have a problem with doing it or organizing it. I wanted to get a feel of how many people want to do it by the posts and run it by Steve first. We have plenty of time, still one more week left in August. I will get back with you.  8)

I'm in, Sounds like fun, I am just not sure how it all works, where do we mail the ornament to, how do we get a name.

Here is a plan that may work.

1.   Email you name and address to organizer.
2.   Make your ornament.
3.   Organizer confirms you are in by sending you a name on the list.
4.   You confirm by email that you have received the name and address
and will mail your ornament by a cut off date.
5.   Organizer marks off that name.
6.   You send the ornament directly to the name and address you receive.
7.   Everyone is happy?.

I have notified Steve and am waiting for his thoughts and approval. I really don't think he will have a problem with it. While I am waiting to hear from him I will be creating a plan. ChaplainRons plans is basically how it will work. Soon as I get the OK we will be on our way.  8)

OK ,,,Steve has given his approval, so we can go forward. As far as the process of selecting/exchanging names I think I have that figured out.  My feelings are we need to keep the patterns at a level so that everyone can participate. The thought I have is about a selection of patterns to choose from, but that might hurt the individuals creativity. We really need to make it so that everyone from beginner to expert can participate, and no one feels intimidated. So suggestions about  the pattern choice or any other suggestions will be appreciated.  8)

Hey Russ,  I think as long as the ornaments are restricted to something that can be hung on a christmas tree, let everyone choose their own pattern.  I would be honored to receive a simple ornament from a beginner.  As we have seen by many of the photos from beginners, simple can be beautiful.  No one should be intimidated by their level of expertice - we are all learning, just at different levels.

I'm with Julie...like in Poker..."Cutter's Choice".

A simple star would mean as much to me from someone as an intricate cutting of the manger scene!

AND...I would welcome something from a Non-Christian Friend/member just as much!

The idea is we are sharing yet another thing with each other! And who knows what might develop, a lasting friendship at the very minimum!

I never really wanted to grow up....All I wanted was to be able to reach the cookie jar...and play with my DW 788

What they said!  I'd rather do something unique to give, but I'd be happy with receiving about anything.  It's more about the giving than the receiving.  That's the idea behind the Holiday anyway.
