If you are good with a computer, you can look up info about a process called KERNING.
All you are really doing is moving each letter until it touches the letter beside it (if I am thinking of the same type pattern design that you are speaking of).
If you aren't good enough with a computer to follow directions for kerning in your computer software, you can simply
type out the wording in the size you want to scroll it from, cut each letter out individually and then tape them back together to join them.
In most computer graphics editing programs you can move the letters over and then print the pattern without having to cut the letters individually.
Do you have a particular name you want to be able to cut out in that type of pattern?
