I haven't had any problems with emails from Tony Cook but I do use Mailwasher
http://www.mailwasher.net/ It is a free program that fits between my email program and the mail server. Mailwasher checks the mail server and shows a list of emails waiting for me. I can look at the sender and subject line and mark any suspicious emails as spam. Then when I click the download button, the spam messages are deleted at the server and then those I want to see are downloaded.
When an email is deleted at the server, it doesn't get to my computer so there is absolutely no chance that any malware reaches my PC.
There is an option to white list (or black list, ie. Tony Cook) senders or web sites or to mark emails as spam. The program also references known lists of spam sites and automatically marks suspected emails. You can then investigate those and, if you want, can download those emails anyway.
I find it invaluable, and the price is right.
Good luck,
Jim
PS
I am NOT affiliated with the Mailwasher program in any way.
