Someone needed to cut a segmentation project
« on: July 25, 2010, 08:08:18 pm »
Hi everyone.  This is kind of a weird request.  This evening, I had a gentleman call me from Spring Hill, Florida.  He had seen my "Welcome to the Nut House" segmentation in the magazine and wondered if I had any for sale.  I explained to him that I don't typically sell finished items, and I did not have one.  He asked if I knew of anyone who would want to make one for him, because he had arthritis and couldn't use his hands.

I would like to help him, but I just don't have the time.  I was wondering if any one here would want to talk to him about doing it.  I don't know how much he is willing to spend, but I told him I would put it up on the board here and ask.  I know lots of you like to do woodworking as a hobby and aren't trying to make a living at it and would possibly want to help.

If you are interested, please let me know and I will forward your phone number to him.  He is a nice man and seems reasonable and polite when I talked to him.

Thanks for your consideration.

Sheila :)

Hi Sheila:

I looked at that pattern and decided that the labor on it would run to something in the 20 to 30 hour range.  Cutting is fairly straightforward, but the shaping and finishing would take a while.  You made one, what do you think it would take?

Love your patterns.

Terry

Thank you Terry.   You are right, it probably took me that long.

I did find someone who was making four of them to sell and I hooked the two gentlemen up.  Where they go from there will be up to them. :)  I really appreciate everyone who offered and understand everyone who couldn't help. As I said, I couldn't do it either.  There is just too much I have going on right now to do it right.

Thanks to everyone - you are a wonderful group of talented and helpful people.  I am really happy I am part of this forum.

Take care, Sheila

We're all so nice on here.  One day we'll all probably go crazy from the niceness and go postal!  ha!
