making patterns

Hello, iam new on this forum. Iam from holland and like to make scroll saw items.

Now I want to make a pattern from a photo. On steve's blog he use corel draw. And on the internet they al use a windows system. I have a iMac and can't find a program.

What program can i use for my iMac.

If you want to make a pattern from a portrait, one way is with GIMP.  Free and I understand it runs on MAC too.

I use Inkscape for making other patterns but I am not sure that is the best to transform a picture to a pattern.

I believe so but I would download directly from GIMP even if takes longer.  I am not a geek and had issue with Bit Torrant downloads before.

If I download from someone I don't know I always run a scan after downloading and installing.
