Wood Allergy
« on: November 05, 2015, 09:20:16 pm »
Hey guys, a quick question.  I have been scrolling for many years. Just within the last few monrhs. I notice after cutting pine the next day, my hands are itching very badly. Has this happen to anyone and if so what do you do? Any help will be great. Thanks.......

I think I'd try some disposable food handling gloves.
Medical gloves would not really be necessary and probably
a bit more expensive. Food handling gloves should be fine
and would eliminate contact with the tannins or what-ever is
causing your discomfort.
God Bless! Spirithorse

I am allergic to the pine sap.  My hands break out in little water bumps and then get real itchy.

I took a little bit to figure it out as it occurred every Christmas.  It was the Christmas tree.

I was cutting up a Pine tree one summer and my hands broke out again and then we realized it. We now have an artificial tree and I don't touch pine trees.

I get the rash occasionally with milled pine if wet.  If it looks sappy at all I wear latex gloves that I get real cheap at Harbor Freight.

Be careful as mine seems to have gotten worse as I get older.
